Turkish Airlines

Cabin up to 8 kgCarrier up to 45×35×23Hold allowed

Carries dogs and cats both in the cabin and in the hold on most international routes. Istanbul is a major connecting hub on CIS ↔ Europe/Balkans routes, so check both the connecting and the final flight's rules.

In-cabin carriage

A pet with its carrier, combined weight up to 8 kg, is allowed in the cabin, with the carrier fitting under the seat in front (max 45×35×23 cm). One pet per passenger, a limited number of in-cabin slots per flight — book ahead.

Hold carriage

Pets heavier than 8 kg fly in the hold (AVIH) in a hard, ventilated IATA-standard crate; the hold is heated and pressurized.

Breed restrictions

Brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds — e.g. pugs, bulldogs, Persian cats — are not accepted in the hold under any circumstances, only in the cabin if the weight limit is met.

Fees

The fee depends on the route and weight; roughly 50 to 200+ EUR for the cabin, more for the hold — check the airline's website when booking.

Booking

Mandatory advance notice at least 48 hours before departure via the call center or website; the number of pet slots per flight is limited, and on popular routes quotas can be booked out months in advance — reserve the pet's spot together with the ticket, not afterward.

Never give your pet a sedative or sleep medication before a flight without a veterinarian's prescription — pressure changes at altitude can make it fatal.
