Xylitol from sugar-free gum and sweets causes a rapid blood-sugar crash and liver failure in dogs. Proven lethal toxicity in cats is lacking, but it must not be given.
Symptoms
Weakness, wobbly gait, tremors, seizures, vomiting — often within 10-30 minutes.
What to do
This is an emergency: go to a veterinarian immediately.
