Macadamia nuts are toxic to dogs even in small amounts, causing hind-leg weakness and tremors. Data for cats is limited, but they must not be given.
Symptoms
Weakness (especially hind legs), tremors, vomiting, elevated temperature — usually within 12 hours.
What to do
Contact a veterinarian; most dogs recover with supportive care.
