Theobromine and caffeine in chocolate are toxic to dogs and cats; the darker the chocolate, the more dangerous. Even a small piece of dark chocolate can harm a small dog.
Symptoms
Vomiting, diarrhea, thirst, restlessness, rapid heart rate, tremors, seizures.
What to do
Contact a veterinarian immediately even before symptoms appear; the pet weight, chocolate type and amount matter.
