Papillon (Continental Toy Spaniel)
The Papillon is a small, elegant, and highly active toy companion dog of French-Belgian origin, named for its distinctive large, fringed ears that resemble butterfly wings. Ranked 8th among the most intelligent dog breeds by Stanley Coren, the Papillon excels in obedience and agility and is highly trainable. Despite its dainty appearance, it is energetic and athletic, known for being happy, friendly, and devoted to its family, though it has a tendency to bark and benefits from early socialization.
