Miniature American Shepherd
The Miniature American Shepherd (Mini Aussie) is a compact herding breed developed in the United States in the late 1960s from Australian Shepherd stock. It is highly intelligent, loyal, and energetic, making it an excellent companion for active owners. Despite its small size, it retains strong herding instincts and requires daily physical and mental exercise.

Apartment friendly
Can adapt to apartment living if given sufficient daily exercise. Without long walks and active play, the dog may develop destructive behaviour. Best suited to homes with a yard, but manageable in an apartment for a committed, active owner.
Care
Brush the coat 2–3 times per week, daily during shedding seasons. The breed requires vigorous daily exercise and mental stimulation (agility, frisbee, herding activities). Check ears regularly and trim nails as needed. Bathe approximately every 4–6 weeks.

Travel
The breed adapts well to travel when properly socialized from an early age. Crate-train gradually before longer trips. In a car, use a crash-tested crate or a certified dog seat belt harness. Due to MDR1 drug sensitivity, consult a vet before travel regarding any sedatives or medications.
Carrier size
Due to its weight of 9–18 kg, this breed typically does not fit standard airline cabin carriers; use a large travel crate or car kennel size L (approx. 90×60×65 cm).
Harness size
Typically fits a size M or L harness; measure the chest girth (usually 50–70 cm) and choose an adjustable fit. A front-clip harness is recommended for better control of this energetic breed.
Leash
A 1.5–2 m nylon or leather leash for everyday walks; a retractable leash up to 5 m is suitable for open parks. Avoid retractable leashes near traffic, as the breed is fast and may lunge suddenly.
