Hani Walk

Boston Terrier

The Boston Terrier is a compact, friendly companion breed of American origin, nicknamed 'The American Gentleman' for its tuxedo-like markings. Highly intelligent and people-oriented, it rarely barks without reason and adapts well to apartment living. As a brachycephalic breed, it requires attention to respiratory health and eye care, and should be protected from overheating.

Apartment friendly

Excellent apartment dog: rarely barks, compact size, and moderate exercise needs. Requires 30–60 minutes of daily walks and plenty of human companionship.

Care

Brush weekly with a soft bristle brush; bathe monthly or as needed. Clean teeth regularly and check eyes weekly for redness or irritation. Avoid overexertion and heat exposure due to brachycephalic anatomy. Feed high-quality small-breed food twice daily.

Health

Brachycephalic airway syndrome, cataracts, glaucoma, corneal ulcers, patellar luxation, dry eye

Travel

Always travel in-cabin on flights in a soft, well-ventilated, airline-approved carrier; cargo travel is strongly discouraged due to brachycephalic breathing risks. In the car, secure in a crash-tested carrier or travel harness and never leave in a parked vehicle. Carry water and take frequent breaks.

Carrier size

Soft-sided large carrier for small breeds; the dog must be able to turn around and lie comfortably. Recommended internal dimensions approx. 55 × 35 × 32 cm.

Harness size

Size S–M harness depending on individual chest girth. A no-pull, front-clip harness is strongly recommended to avoid pressure on the trachea and airway of this brachycephalic breed.

Leash

Lightweight 120–180 cm leash or retractable leash with lock for use in secure areas. A collar alone is strongly discouraged; always pair with a harness to protect the airway.

usually allowed
