Hani Walk

Frequently asked questions

How do I give another person access to my dog, and what's the difference between roles?

The owner opens the dog's profile, taps “…” → “Invite by code,” picks a role — “Caretaker” or “Owner” — and taps “Generate code.” An 8-digit code and a QR code appear. The other person taps “Add pet” → “Join an existing one” and enters the code, or scans the QR with the “Scan QR code” button — this has to be done inside the app, since the QR encodes the code itself, not a link. The code is single-use and never expires. An “Owner” can do everything, including editing and deleting the dog's profile, sending invites, and managing members. A “Caretaker” handles the dog's everyday life on equal footing with the owner — walks, health records, vaccinations, medications, journal, nutrition — but can't edit or delete the profile itself and can't invite others. The last remaining owner can't be removed or demoted, so a dog is never left without an owner.

How many dogs can I add to one account?

As many as you like: each dog has its own profile, health record, and stats. And the other way around — one dog can have several humans: owners and caretakers.

How do I contact support?

Right from the app: Profile → Settings → “Support.” Choose a topic (“Bug,” “Idea,” “Question,” or “Other”), describe the situation, and attach a screenshot if you'd like — the reply will come to the email you provide. The app version and device model are attached automatically, no need to mention them yourself. We usually reply within 1–2 business days. All contact details are also listed on the support page.

How do I delete my account?

Profile → Settings → the “Account” section → “Delete account” and confirm. The deletion happens immediately, no need to email us. If you were the dog's only owner, its profile is deleted along with the account; if the dog has other owners, it stays with them. You can sign up again later with the same email — that'll be a new, empty account. Data is deleted or anonymized within 30 days, as described in the privacy policy.

How do I watch my dog's walk if someone else is walking them?

When another owner starts a walk, you get a push notification — tap it to open the live map. You can also get there from the home screen: while someone else's walk is in progress, the big button at the bottom switches to “Join.” From there you get two modes: “Watch only” — a map with the route, duration, distance, and events, updating every couple of seconds; and “Join the walk” — the same, plus the ability to log events yourself. From watch mode you can send a “boop” — a friendly nudge that arrives as a push notification to whoever's walking. Live view works as long as the walker has the “Share route with others” toggle on (it's on by default).

How do I edit a walk that's already been recorded?

Open “Statistics” and tap the walk. In “Walk details,” the “…” menu → “Edit” changes distance, duration, mood, and behavior; the pencil icon next to the pets opens “Who walked?” and changes the list of participants; a long press on an event card gives you “Edit” (note) and “Delete.” One limitation: you can't add a new event to an already-finished walk — events are logged during the walk. If you need to backdate one, create a manual walk instead.

How do I add a walk after the fact?

Open “Statistics” and tap “+” in the top-right corner — this opens the “Manual walk” form. Specify the pets, start and end time, distance, and notes if you'd like. Here you can add events manually along with their time: “Peed,” “Pooped,” “Drank water,” “Play,” “Met a dog,” “Picked something up.” A walk like this shows up in statistics tagged “Manual.” You can't log a walk with a future time.

How do I list my own service?

If you're a groomer, dog trainer, pet sitter, or vet — in the app open Profile → “…” → “Become a provider” and fill out your service card. After moderation it'll appear in the “Services” section, clients will be able to book you, and your bookings and schedule live in the “Provider dashboard.” You can also do this without the app, through the “suggest a service” form on the website — you can use it to recommend a specialist you know, too, not just yourself. Every submission goes through manual review.

Is the app free?

Yes. Walks, health records, vet passport, reminders, and the community are free, with no ads. There's just one limit: AI document recognition has a monthly quota. If you run out, you can request more recognitions right in the app.

Is there an Android version?

Right now the app is only available for iPhone and Apple Watch. An Android version is in development.

Does tracking work without internet?

Yes. A walk starts and records completely offline: route, time, distance, steps, and event markers are saved on the device, even if you close the app. As soon as you're back online, everything uploads automatically — there's nothing you need to do. The only things that need a connection are the ones that need a server: weather, other people watching your walk live, and photos taken during the walk.

Does the battery drain a lot during a walk?

A walk means continuous GPS at maximum accuracy, so the drain is noticeable, same as with any route tracker. We try not to waste extra: a route point is logged no more than once every 2 seconds and no closer than 5 meters from the previous one, inaccurate readings are discarded, and the lock-screen widget updates once every 30 seconds. When paused, tracking and GPS stop completely, and you can turn off the pedometer in quick settings before you start.

Do I need an iPhone if I have an Apple Watch?

Yes, you need an iPhone: the watch app is installed as a companion to the phone app. But during the walk itself, the phone can stay in your pocket — starting, logging events, and heart rate are all available right from the watch.

How do I digitize a vet passport?

Open the dog's profile → “Health” → “Documents,” add a document with the type “Vet passport,” and photograph the pages. Then tap “Scan passport with AI” — the app reads vaccinations, parasite treatments, and the chip number and shows you what it found. You decide what to do with the result: “Add new” only enters records that aren't there yet, while “Update and overwrite” also updates matching ones. Nothing gets added to the health record without your confirmation. If a photo comes out blurry, the app will warn you and suggest retaking it.

What happens to my route data?

Routes are stored in your account and used for walk history and statistics. We don't sell personal data. One thing worth knowing upfront: the “Share route with others” toggle is on by default — that's what lets people close to you watch a walk in real time. While it's on, the walk can be opened in spectator mode; no one outside can ever change anything in it. You can turn it off both before starting (“Share location” in quick settings) and during the walk, via the gear icon on its screen. The danger-spot map is a separate case: markers you leave there are, by design, visible to every nearby user.
