Pembroke Welsh Corgi
The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is a small herding breed originating in Pembrokeshire, Wales, recognized by its fox-like face, erect ears, and naturally short or docked tail. Travel
Acclimate your Corgi to their carrier early using positive reinforcement. Due to their weight and size, most adult Pembrokes travel in cargo — check airline pet policies well in advance. Bring familiar toys and a blanket to reduce stress. Ensure adequate hydration and avoid feeding right before travel. For car trips, use a crash-tested harness or secured crate and avoid letting the dog jump in and out of vehicles.
Carrier size
Adult Pembroke Welsh Corgis typically exceed standard airline cabin pet limits. A large carrier with internal dimensions of approximately 48 × 30 × 28 cm (L × W × H) is needed; always verify exact size allowances with your specific airline.
Harness size
Typically fits a Medium harness (girth approximately 53–74 cm). A step-in or H-style harness designed for long-bodied, short-legged breeds is recommended; always measure the dog's girth before purchasing.
Leash
A standard 1.2–1.8 m nylon or leather leash with sturdy hardware is recommended. Retractable leashes are not advised due to the breed's herding instincts and tendency to chase. A 5–7 m long-line is useful for training.
