Pug

The Pug is a compact toy breed with a distinctive round head, short muzzle, and expressive dark eyes, known for its charming and affectionate personality. Pugs are sociable, playful, and get along well with children and other pets, making them excellent companion dogs. Due to their brachycephalic build, they are prone to breathing difficulties and heat intolerance, requiring attentive health management.

Travel

Many airlines ban brachycephalic breeds from cabin and/or cargo travel — verify airline policy before booking, Avoid cargo hold travel as it is dangerous for Pugs due to breathing difficulties and heat risk, Always ensure access to fresh water and cool air, especially in warm weather, Use calming treats and a well-ventilated, airline-approved soft carrier when possible, Carry veterinary records and vaccination documentation, Take frequent breaks for rest, water, and bathroom stops on road trips

Carrier size

Soft-sided carrier approximately 46–50 cm long × 28–30 cm tall; must allow the dog to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably. Allow extra height for the brachycephalic head shape.

Harness size

Size S–M harness (chest girth typically 40–55 cm); choose a wide, padded harness that does not put pressure on the throat — especially important for brachycephalic breeds.

Leash

Standard 1.2–1.8 m (4–6 ft) flat leash. Retractable leashes are not recommended. Always use a harness rather than a collar to avoid pressure on the trachea.
