French Bulldog
The French Bulldog is a compact, muscular breed with distinctive bat-like ears, a flat face, and a short smooth coat. Known for its playful, affectionate, and adaptable temperament, the Frenchie is especially popular among city and apartment dwellers. Due to its brachycephalic anatomy, the breed is prone to breathing difficulties and does not tolerate heat well.

Travel
French Bulldogs must never travel in aircraft cargo holds due to their brachycephalic anatomy — cabin only. Many airlines cap the combined pet-plus-carrier weight at around 8 kg, which can be challenging for adult Frenchies; always verify the specific airline's policy before booking. Acclimate the dog to the carrier well in advance. Avoid travel in hot or humid conditions; ensure good ventilation and access to water at all times. Carry a vet health certificate. Never leave in a hot vehicle.
Carrier size
Large soft-sided carrier; recommended interior approximately 53 cm long × 30 cm high; good ventilation and a firm base are essential for this stocky breed
Harness size
Size M–L harness with adjustable chest girth (typically 46–66 cm); a padded, front-clip or chest-clip harness is strongly recommended over a collar to avoid pressure on the airway
Leash
A standard 1.2–1.8 m (4–6 ft) flat leash; retractable leashes are not recommended as the breed tends to pull and requires controlled, slow-paced walks; a sturdy nylon or leather leash is preferred
Airline cabin travel
usually not
