Chihuahua
The Chihuahua is the smallest recognized dog breed in the world, originating in Mexico, and is characterized by its apple-dome skull, large erect ears, and prominent expressive eyes. Despite their tiny size, Chihuahuas have bold, energetic personalities and form deep bonds with their owners. The breed adapts well to apartment living and is one of the longest-lived dog breeds, with an average lifespan of 14–16 years.

Protect from cold and outdoor predators. Always walk on a harness rather than a collar to protect the delicate trachea.

Travel
Chihuahuas are small enough to travel in-cabin on most airlines in an approved soft carrier that fits under the seat. Always confirm carrier dimensions with your specific airline before flying. Offer water in small amounts during travel, take regular breaks, and bring a familiar toy and blanket to reduce anxiety. Protect from cold temperatures as the breed is cold-sensitive.
