Bull Arab

The Bull Arab is an Australian working breed developed in the 1970s by crossing the Bull Terrier, Greyhound, and German Shorthaired Pointer for pig hunting. It is a large, muscular, and athletic dog that combines speed, strength, scenting ability, and trainability. With proper socialization and consistent training it becomes a loyal family companion, but it requires an experienced owner due to its strong prey drive.

Travel

Bull Arabs are large dogs and are not permitted in aircraft cabins; air travel requires an IATA-approved cargo crate. For car travel, use a spacious crate or a certified car harness/seatbelt. Make regular stops for exercise and water. Acclimatising the dog to travel from an early age helps reduce stress.

Carrier size

Due to large size (61–71 cm tall, 30–50 kg), standard pet carriers are not suitable; an IATA-approved XL or XXL cargo crate is required for transport

Harness size

Size XL or XXL; a heavy-duty harness with reinforced buckles and wide straps (at least 4 cm) is recommended for secure control of this large, powerful dog

Leash

A sturdy 1.5–2 m nylon or leather leash with a strong clasp; a short traffic leash is recommended in busy areas; retractable leashes should be avoided due to the breed's high prey drive
