Bloodhound
The Bloodhound is a large scent hound originating from medieval Europe, renowned for its unmatched tracking ability thanks to up to 300 million scent receptors. The breed is affable, gentle, and docile at home, yet becomes stubborn and relentless on the trail. Bloodhounds are widely used in search-and-rescue operations and law enforcement tracking worldwide.

Travel
Always use a securely latched hard-sided crate for transport. Feed no less than 2 hours before travel to reduce bloat risk. Ensure access to water and adequate ventilation. Check airline or carrier documentation requirements in advance. Be mindful of the breed's tendency to overheat.
Carrier size
Bloodhound is a large breed requiring an extra-large (XL/XXL) hard-sided airline-approved crate for transport. Cabin travel is not possible; the dog must travel as checked baggage or cargo depending on airline policy.
Harness size
XL or XXL; a sturdy, wide-strap no-pull or Y/H-shaped harness is recommended due to the breed's strength and tendency to pull strongly when on a scent
Leash
Sturdy 1.5–2 m nylon or leather leash; retractable leashes are not recommended as the dog may lunge powerfully when catching a scent. Always keep on leash outside of securely fenced areas.
Airline cabin travel
usually not
